Abstract

Purpose of this study was to analyse structure and dynamics of antituberculosis-drug resistant patients in Tatarstan Republic (Russia).
Antituberculosis-drug resistance was analysed in 1072 patients. 59,8% of them were chronic patients and 40,2% - newly detected. Last group included 50,8% of patients, who haven[scquote]t received antituberculosis drugs and 49,2% - who have received them before. Most resistance in chronic patients was found to Isoniazid – 67,1% (75,0% in 1999) and Streptomycin – 59,0% (56,0% in 1999). Resistance to Streptomycin in newly detected patients, who haven[scquote]t received antituberculosis drugs was 36,1% (20,2% in 1999)(p<0,01), and in patients, who have received antituberculosis drugs highest resistance was found to Isoniazid – 50,9% (51% in 1999). In comparison with previous year resistance to one drug was increased from 7,3% to 10,0% in newly detected patients, to two drugs combination – from 4,9% to 10,0% (p<0,01), to three drugs – from 5,7% to 9,1%, to four drugs – from 4,9% to 6,8% and to five drugs combination from 3,1% to 6,1% (p<0,05).
Investigation showed importance of use of 4-5 antituberculosis drugs combinations in tuberculosis treatment. It is also important not to use antituberculosis drugs widely in therapeutic hospitals.
