Abstract Tuberculosis definition and patients' treatment in Tashkent area classify according to dispensary group registration. This registration is conducted in the base of clinical and X-ray criterions. Statistical reports have dates about TB morbidity (new cases); number of active forms of tuberculosis need in TB treatment; TB prevalence. Analyze of statistical dates show that 1532 TB patients are newly diagnosed in 2001. We analyzed lists of patients according to groups of dispensary registration because we converse them according DOTS definition. We clarify that 6629 patients need in DOTS treatment according WHO definition (3551 patients from category 1, 1790 patients from category 2, 1288 patients from category 3). Present time treatment regimen prescribes individually for each patient and often changes. Biostimulants, antioxidants and steroids are used as auxiliary treatment. Outpatient treatment not widely used. TB morbidity (44.7 per 100 000 population in 1996; 64,6 in 2001), TB prevalence (155,2 per 100 000 population in 1996; 266,0 in 2001), TB mortality (6,4 per 100 000 population in 1996; 11,0 in 2001) in Tashkent area is growing. It's necessary to improve drug supply and widely adopt standard schemes of short course of chemotherapy coupled with high quality bacteriology service.
