Abstract

The aim of the work was the investigations of possibility of the inhaled furosemide influence on the airway hyperresponsiveness (AH) modification in patients with the allergic bronchial asthma (BA). We studied AH to distilled water (DW) and hypertonic solution (HS) of NaCl (3,6%) in 16 atopic asthmatic patients. AH test was repeated next day after the inhalation of 4 ml isoosmic furosemide solution (60 mg). For the estimation of ion-transport function the concentration of Na+ and K+ ions with the help of the atomic-absorbtional spectrophotometer Perken-Elmer AA 306 was studied. We found the reduction of AH with DW in 11 patients (73%) with BA and in 4 patients the test was negative. In 6 patients with BA there was the reduction of AH with HS. Strong correlation between AH (DW and HS) and the activity of Na-K-Cl co-transport (r=0,67; p=0,001; and r=0,53; p=0,003; correspondingly) confirm the relation of AH with ion-transport activity and bronchoprotective action of furosemide may be due to Na-K-Cl co-transport inhibiting.
