Different hypertonic sodium chloride solution influence on external respiratory function in chronic obstructive lung disease

Abstract

Use of hypertonic sodium chloride solution (HSCS) inhalations is rather promising for general pulmonologic practical work considering its high therapeutic effect due to its favorable influence on nucociliary clearance. At the same time there are many rather contradictory data concerning influence of such inhalations on external respiratory function. The aim of the work was to study in dynamics different HSCS concentrations influence on blood gaseous content and bronchial permeability in COPD with different ventilation capacity.The study was carried out in two uniform groups of COPD patients within the age limit of 40 – 70 years (mean age – 57,9) with sharp and significant -7, and light and moderate - 8 patients obstructive ventilation disorders at the end of exacerbation. On the background of consecutive inhalation with pneumatic nebuliaer of different HSCS concentrations and preset cough patients[scquote] PaO2 and VFE1 were determined.The results showed that HSCS inhalation (up to 7%) in COPD patients has special characteristics independent on the solution concentration and degree of lung ventilation capacity disorder, had no significant (p > 0,05) influence on PaO2 and in most patients on bronchial permeability on the background of the load cough sample. There was no correlation between these parameters change. The results may promote wider clinical use of HSCS inhalations for mucociliary insufficiency correction.
