Abstract

During the last 3 years (99 – 01), among children hospitalized in our Clinic, we observed 3 cases of respiratory and circulatory insufficiency, 1 case of emotional problems with mild respiratory symptoms and 1 case of lung tumor. In every case, after bacteriological, histological and serological investigations, we establish the diagnosis, which was tuberculosis.
Nowadays, it is more frequently observed that diagnosis of children`s tuberculosis is not easy nor clear, and the variability of clinical symptoms, x-ray and bronchoscopic changes should always be taken under consideration in the diagnostic process.
During the last 3 years among children with the diagnosis of tuberculosis, at three of them we encountered serious diagnostic problems. Basing on our observations and on data from the literature, we suggest to take under consideration tuberculous process in every case with unclear x-ray examination, prolonged process in respiratory tract and with unexplained, not characteristic emotional problems. We think this is correlated to alteration of clinical course of the disease and to various demographical and genetical factors.
