Abstract We investigated functioning of the interferon system at 108 children with atopic bronchilal asthma at the age of 2-14 years. There are 58 children were studied at the attack period of bronchial asthma. In the control group were included 10 healthy babies. We assessed the interferon status (method of Grigoryan S.) and serum concentrations of IFNγ(ELISA). There were shown decreasing of the IFN-producing ability of leukocytes to the synthesis of IFNα at 50% and IFNγ at 84% of children with BA. Serum level of IFNγ of children with bronchial asthma during all period of illness in comparing to the babies without predisposition to the atopy (94,9±]10,3 pg/ml and 192,3±]7,8 pg/ml accordingly) was authentically decreased. Production of IFNα increased effectively after using viferon and arbidol. In acute period of bronchial asthma the reduced serum level of IFNγ was also detected. The revialed modifications for the severe attack of bronchial asthma(84,71±]10,25 pg/ml), a moderate attack (87,18±]17,51pg/ml), and a mild attack of BA (84,98±]18 pg/ml), were authenic (p<0,01) differed from parameters in a group of comparison (127,8±]64,05 pg/ml). Besides, we assessed 25 cord blood samples of babies born to mothers with bronchial asthma and 10 cord blood samples of healthy infants. It was established that the serum level of IFNγ was reduced at newborn infants from atopic mothers, as compared with babies from nonatopic mothers. Decreased level of IFNγ had a low tendency to increasing during the first year of life. Decreased ability to the gamma-interferonogenesis at the most children was resistant to the action of immunomodulators. There was shown a role of exposed interferon system[scquote]s dysfunction in development of atopy inflammation.
