Abstract

AIM: To estabilish how antismoking informatives campaigns, family and friends influencing the smoking habits. METHODS: A number of 675 subjects (165 male, 510 female) were given anonimous questionnaires where they answered about family and friends smoking habits, their opinion about antismoking campaigns, methods for quitting smoke, reasons for giving up smoking during September 2001. RESULTS: 59.9% never smoking, 9.7% ex-smokers and 28.4% regular smokers. Most of the subjects (70.2%-77.6% never-smokers, 82.5% ex-smokers and 70.3% regular smokers) considereted antismoking informatives campaigns less rare and not incisives. The reasons for giving up smoking were: illness(14.2%), dispnea(11.1%), family pressure(9.5%), medical advice(6.6%). Among smokers 55.2% never tried to give up smoking and 45.8% tried but failed(6.7%-1 time, 32.2% 2-5 times, 5.9% more 5 times).As methods to quit smoking: 76% prefered to try their selfs, 13%-profesional help, 8.3%-another method.CONCLUSIONS: Family and friends smoking habits had a small influence.
