Abstract

Mushrooms that grow all over the world are used sources of food and medical features since the time of ancient Greece and Roman. Today, request of edible mushrooms such as Pleurotus Ostreatus cultivated at the industrial level, due to its short growing period, higher compliance and productivity are increasing according to the other edible mushrooms.Commercial production is carried out in indoor and conditioned environments with labor-intensive way throughout the year. Indoor cultivation, leads to allergic symptoms such as extrinsic allergic alveolitis known as hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) in workers. HP that caused by repeated inhalation of organic antigens and inorganic low-molecular-weight particles is a non-IgE-mediated hypersensitivity reaction in susceptible people. Although there are different reasons HP's clinical, radiological and pathological features are shared.23-year-old male patient's symptoms emerged after starting mushroom production business. A patient was admitted to our clinic complaints with chills, fever, joint pain, skin rashes. As a result of his medical history, physical and radiographic examination patient was diagnosed as hypersensitivity pneumonitis and medical therapy was started. The patient's symptoms disappeared in a few days. The patient was discharged at the end of the first week.Despite the difficulties in the diagnosis of disease it should be kept in mind in medical history, physical examination and radiographic evaluation. Question of the “What is your occupation?” which allows us to diagnose or help should certainly be asked and considered.
