Abstract To investigate the specific features of modern diagnostics large cell lung cancer (LCLC) we used the materials of the 16-years experience by thoracic surgery clinic. For mentioned period 26 patients were examined and treated with LCLC. Anamnesis period of disease was no more than 3 monthes (73,9 % cases). It must be noted, that in 37,7 % cases pathology developed asymptomatically and was revealed accidentally. In 34,6 % cases patients long time were treated for tuberculosis or nonspecific diseases of the lung (abscess or pneumonia), that facts are evidenced about obscure and unclear clinical symptoms of this tumor type. Among patients males were predominant (84 % cases). The age of the almost people was 50-60 years. Later we established, that 22 (88 %) of our patients were intensive smokers. The most common complains were following: cough (61,1 % cases), in half cases with sputum; chest pain, weakness, but hemoptysis and elevated temperature were mentioned only in 22,2 % cases. Objective status dates were no informative. We noted 2 types of roentgen pictures. First type is characterised as round or oval shadow with irregular borders. Second type look like as infiltrate of central area or as atelectasis of lung lobus. The disintegration of tumor tissue is not typical. In 36,8 % cases radiographic examination had help to reveal the presence of spreading malignant process. Interestingly, that cytologic investigation had given true results only in 2 cases, in other cases it was no real dates. All patients were treated surgically and diagnosis was proved histologically. We must make conclusion that contemporary diagnostic algorithm of large cell lung cancer keep for actuality.
