Abstract All the cases of the lung cancer have been analyzed during the last three years. These patients have been compared with the cases detected and treated during the last 20 years. The special attention was dedicated to smoking habits, increasing of the new cases according to the age and sex distribution, the lung cancer type, and disease establishing. From 1011 lung cancer patients diagnosed during the last three years (1999-2001) were 87.3% males (889) and 12,7% females (122); males:females ratio is 7.1:1 (p<0.01). The most number of patients is above 65 years (47%). The time from appearing symptoms till visiting physician is still long (x = 4.3 months ±] 4.7 months). 78.2% cases are diagnosed in inoperable stage (IIIA and IIIB, IV). From that number there are 54.7% cases in IV stage of the disease. About 22% cases have disease in the operable stage. The number of the cases who have been smoking increased from 17.6% to 47.4% (p<0.0005). It has been noticed the increase of of squamous cell carcinoma of the lung in females from 16% to 20% (p<0.034); and increase of adenocarcinoma in males from 20.1% to 31.3% (p<0.0005). The answer on the question is: the number of the cases has increased for 2.4 times in males, and 4.1 times in females. The lung cancer diagnoses late, in inoperable stage, and in stage with metastasis. The cigarette smoking habit is still very widespread; moreover, females are the most common smokers, what had never been custom and habit in these areas thirty years ago. In the last 20 years has been nothing done to stop or to make early diagnose of the lung cancer. That is the reason because there is a small number of radical surgery lung resection, virtually the only therapy regimen, which gives a hope to be cured.
