Abstract

The present investigation has as objective to measure the quality of life in asthmatic patients in ist different grades of severity in accord international guidelines in asthma. A questionnaire of quality of life was admiministered conformed by 32 questions, in asthmatic patients that attended in ambulatory consultation and hospitalized due a exacerbation in the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias.
We evaluated 115 questionnaires, of which were female and 36 male patients. When evalated the distribution according to the severity of the illness by means of the test with a p= 0.82; they were not significant differences, neither in the sex, escolarity varables, age and years of evolution of the illness.
When evaluate the questionnaires of quality of life in their four spheres, it was found that the patients were diagnosed with severe persistet asthma obtained smaller quality of life in the sphere that evaluates the emotional aspect. This discovery is since of supreme importance it is neccesary to increase the treatment and psycological support in those patients that suffer severe asthma; avoiding that asthmatic crisis in unchained caused by emotional conflicts.
