Abstract

The aim of research was to establish correlation between indices of quality of life and spirography in patients with asthma in combination with COPD.
Under investigation were 79 patients with asthma in combination with COPD in remission period. Quality of life was assessed by original Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ); the questions were divided in to four domains: 1-activity limitation; 2-symptoms; 3-emotional function; 4-exposure to environmental stimuli and total score- TS. (Juniper, E.F. et al. Am. Rev.Respir.Dis.vol.147, pp.832-838, 1993). It was revealed correlation between the index of second domain of AQLQ and spirography
data: VC (r=0,263; p < 0,01); FVC (r=0,315; p < 0,01); FV1 (r=0,375; p < 0,01); PEF (r=0,377;p < 0,01); MEF 25(r=0,394; p < 0,01); MEF50 (r=0,351;p < 0,01); MEF75 (r=0,280;p < 0,01). Consequently, symptoms of disease depended on lung ventilation ability.
It was established also a correlative connection between the index of third domain of AQLQ and PEF (r=0,228;p < 0,05), MEF25 (r=0,225; p < 0,01). TS AQLQ was correlated with VC (r=0,246; p < 0,01), FVC (r=0,276;p < 0,01), FV1 (r=0,262; p < 0,01), MEF25 (r=0,250;p < 0,01).
Conclusion: indices of quality of life in patients with asthma in combination with COPD in remission period depend on lung ventilation function.
