Abstract

At the Department of Pulmonary Diseases in University Hospital Split, in 2009. year from November to the end of December (48 days at all), in 18 patients (pts). was diagnosed virus H1N1 influenza type. Diagnostic method was PCR using nasal and pharyngeal swab. Ten pts were male. The mean age of patients was 52,4 ys for male and 38,8 ys for female. Pneumonia was diagnosed in 99,4% pts. Fever beyond 38oC was in 94,4% pts. All pts had cough, dyspnoea were in 88,9%, and conscious disorders were in 33,3% pts.
Lab. findings ware with especially increased values of CK 655,3 U/L, LDH 388,7 U/L, and CRP 189,8 mg/L. WBC number varied from extremely low to high values (1,0 – 28,8 x 109/L). Mean value of pO2 was 7,5 kPa (4,2 – 10,4), mean value of pCO2 was 4,1 (3,3 – 6,8) kPa.
In 33,3% pts, concomitant with H1N1 virus, were isolated different microorganisms as follow: S.pnuemonia, E.coli, P. mirabilis, K. pneumonia and H. infuenza. All pts were treated 6 days with oseltamivir and oxygen, and all pts received antibiotics through 10-15 days (combination: CTX, azitromycin or moxiphloxacin i.v.). Although patients with pneumonia had serious course, nobody was treated with mechanical ventilator support. All pts, according 2-3 months follow-up, survived without residual consequences.
