EUREST-PLUS: implementation of the tobacco control policy to reduce lung disease

Aims: To present the findings of the EUREST-PLUS Horizon 2020 project. The aim of this project was to evaluate the impact on the European population of the recently implemented tobacco control policies in Europe. These policies include those in the Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) of the European Union and the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. The impact of these policies was assessed by a cohort study on 6,000 smokers in six European countries. This study also assessed how respiratory comorbidities influence clinicians in six European countries to provide cessation assistance. The final results of this study will be presented in this session. We will also describe the results of the 2017 Eurobarometer analysis of 26,000 adults across 28 European countries, which assessed changes in public perceptions regarding e-cigarettes, warning labels on tobacco products and smoke-free environments.
