Aims: To indicate when to use different interventional pulmonology procedures during the diagnostic work-up of diffuse parenchymal lung disease. In addition, new techniques for biopsying lung parenchyma, or hilar/mediastinal masses, or even extrathoracic lesions that can aid the diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases/systemic disorders are described.
