Aims: The objective of this session is to increase knowledge and awareness of the importance of small-airways dysfunction in asthma. The session includes: an overview of the role of small-airway inflammation and remodelling in asthma; a focus on new tools to measure small airways dysfunction and their physiologic background; recent insights developed by novel imaging techniques and the current state-of-the-art role of small airways dysfunction in the clinical management of asthma.
