Aims: At the end of this symposium the audience will:
- be updated upon the immune-potentiating functions of adipokines;
- know that adipokines play a prominent role in the innate host response in experimental animal models of COPD, bacterial pneumonia and asthma;
- appreciate the role of adipokines in the pathogenesis of human pulmonary (vascular) diseases.
