Mechanical ventilation in the acute setting

Symposium
Chairs: B. Ergan (Izmir, Turkey), P. Navalesi (Padova, Italy)
Aims: The aims of this session will be to better clarify the role of an "old" tool like the recording of esophaegeal pressure in setting up the ventilator, how to improve the synchrony between two brains (the patient's one and the clinician's one via a ventilator), the indication of prone position both during invasive ventilation and noninvasive techniques, and last to assess the pro and contra of using NIV during de-novo respiratory failure applying physiological principles
