Aims: The aims of this session are to explain the role of microbiota/viruses in lung disease; describe the importance of goblet cells in mucosal homeostasis; discuss the role of Th17 cells in bacterial infection and innate immunity in the lung; and describe the key role of the respiratory mucosa in asthma.
