diagnosis of sarcoidosis
We made the diagnosis of sarcoidosis, when clinical and histopathological and radiographical symptoms were compatible with sarcoidosis. We excluded contact with TB by anamnesis, so that there is a remote chance that these patients, as well as the controls had actually contact to TB without knowing it.

We explained the large number of positive ELISPOT results in the control with the fact that these patients partially come from high incidence backgrounds for TB. Allthough by anamnesis no history of TB and no known contact to TB-patients was known.

postive t-spot in controls
Dear author, how do you explain the large number of positive ELISPOTs for TB antigens in patients without tuberculosis or sarcoidosis. Are these false positive? Thank you, M.Veltkamp, The Netherlands

What was the basis of the diagnosis of sarcoidosis ? How certain can you be that these patients never had exposure / primary infection with TB in the past ? Do you think the results support the possibility of any role for mycobacteria in sarcoidosis ?
