Clinical Trials: "EURO VENT - endobronchial valves in heterogeneous emphysema patients", "EASE - randomized trial of airway bypass in homogeneous emphysema"

Symposium
Chairs: C. Marquette (Nice, France), S. Gasparini (Ancona, Italy)
Aims: Endoscopic lung volume reduction offers a new option for patients with emphysema. Endobronchial valves may induce lobar volume reduction and improve lung function and exercise tolerance in subjects with advanced emphysema. Euro-VENT compared the safety and efficacy of Zephyr-Endobronchial Valves (EBV) in heterogeneous emphysema to medical treatment. The European arm of a randomised trial will be presented for the first time.
