Aims: The audience will come away with the following information from the session:
- an overview of the epidemiology and clinical significance of the association between OSAS and hypertension
- a practical understanding of the mechanisms of interaction between OSAS and hypertension including sympathetic dysfunction, systemic inflammation, oxidative stress and metabolic dysfunction
- a clinical approach to the diagnosis of hypertension in OSAS and in specific populations, such as children, the elderly and in pregnancy
- a detailed review of the management of patients with hypertension and OSAS
