The lung cancer-COPD nexus

Aims: The aim of this sypmosium is to: highlight the commonalities between COPD and lung cancer and the increased risk of one disease if the other is present; describe the role of epigenetic changes in the development of lung cancer; highlight the growing evidence for a key role for inflammation in lung cancer; and emphasise the potential for novel treatment modalities for tobacco-related syndrome.
