PG6 Core Curriculum Postgraduate Course: How to reduce the burden of COPD

Postgraduate Course
Chairs: J. Zielinski (Warsaw, Poland), M. Decramer (Leuven, Belgium)
Aims: COPD is now the 4th main cause of death worldwide, and its prevalence is rising. The diagnosis of COPD is very late and only 20-30% of patients are diagnosed, the majority of them already being in severe stage of the disease. Active diagnosis by spirometric testing of subjects with high risk of the disease allows for early diagnosis, institution of evidence-based management, secondary prevention of the disease progression and better control of comorbidities.
