Aims: The aims of this course are:
• to discuss the ethical and management problems of patients with end-stage chronic lung disease, with respect to culture, emotion and religious aspects;
• to define the role of noninvasive ventilation (NIV) - when to start, when to withdraw;
• to determine the optimum time and setting for advanced care planning;
• to describe the role of pulmonary rehabilitation in the education of patients for end-of-life. Target audience: Allied health professionals, intensivists, GPs, nurses, general audience.
