PG8 - Interstitial lung diseases: idiopathic interstitial pneumonias

Aims: This is the first course in a three-year postgraduate core curriculum that will provide a comprehensive overview of some of the rare, as well as the more common, interstitial lung diseases. This first module in the series will provide a detailed update on the idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. The specific aims of this first module in the series are:
• to discuss new insights into the pathogenesis which may be relevant for future therapies;
• to illustrate the histopathological assessment and its relevance for the new classification system;
• to show the important contribution of HRCT for diagnosis and differential diagnosis;
• to provide an overview on the optimal clinical management of patients with idiopathic interstitial pneumonia. Target audience: Clinicians, pathologists, radiologists and cell biologists.
