Aims: The symposium aims to highlight the possibilities and shortcomings of presently available activity monitors or other instruments to assess activities of daily living (including proxy measures such as functional exercise tests). Furthermore, the complexity of physical activity as a behaviour will be illustrated and avenues to enhance physical activities will be discussed.
