Aims: to demonstrate how to choose the optimal diagnostic monitoring tool for sleep and breathing (polysomnography, type III device and telemonitoring) in patients with sleep-disordered breathing; to discuss the characteristics and indications of different positive airway pressure/noninvasive ventilation modes for various types of sleep-disordered breathing and hypoventilation; to demonstrate a practical approach for the use of different positive airway pressure modes in patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome.
