Aims: This symposium will give a clear update on the pathogenesis of COPD as a locally and systemically inflammatory disease. To explain the link between local and systemic inflammation and symptoms in COPD. To provide an overview on the present findings related to local (lung, muscles) and systemic (blood) expression of inflammatory mediators in this condition.
