Aims: The emergence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and the increase in patients with MDR-TB worldwide is challenging tuberculosis control. However, the recent advances in diagnosing tuberculosis drug resistance and the development of novel therapeutic options for drug-resistant tuberculosis provide hope that the MDR-TB epidemic can be curbed.
