Aims: To present and disseminate the new guidelines concerning the pathological classification of lung cancer and the 9th American Joint Committee on Cancer staging guidelines; to analyse the molecular-pathological correlations in lung cancer; and to describe the staging techniques needed to implement the new guidelines.
Target audience: Clinicians, epidemiologists, general practitioners, junior members, oncologists, pathologists, pulmonologists, residents, respiratory physicians, scientists, students, thoracic surgeons, and trainees.
