Aims: At the end of the symposium, the audience should know more about the gaps in the current knowledge of acute exacerbations, tools for the assessment of severity, the impact of tracheobronchial colonisation and acute exacerbations during the natural history of the disease, and the role and risks of antimicrobial treatment.
