Aims: This symposium will:
• elucidate the effect of environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) exposure on the development of adult-onset asthma and COPD;
• evaluate the impact of ETS exposure on exacerbation of obstructive lung disease;
• elucidate the benefits of public policies that restrict workplace smoking on respiratory health, with a focus on the Irish experience.
