Mechanical factors limiting physical exercise in disease

Symposium
Chairs: E. F. M. Wouters (Maastricht, The Netherlands), V. Brusasco (Genova, Italy)
Aims: The symposium is aimed at describing the most important mechanisms through which altered lung function and dyspnoea, as a result of cardio-pulmonary diseases, can limit physical exercise. Generally, these mechanisms do not act alone; their multiple interactions will be specifically discussed to enlighten the complexity of the patterns linking the primary disease to impaired physical performance.
