Aims: The aims of the symposium are to outline the changes introduced by the new WHO pathological classification in the spectrum of neuroendocrine tumours of the lung, the specific management that should be applied to the aggressive large cell neuroendocrine tumour, and to discuss the best therapeutic approach to the relatively benign carcinoid tumour and, in contrast, the highly malignant small cell lung cancer.
