Pulse wave analysis during sleep- a new diagnostic concept
Practical WorkshopChairs: J.A. Hedner (Gothenburg, Sweden)
Aims: Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is related to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. The noninvasive photoplethysmographic finger pulse oximetry reflects cardiovascular and autonomic state and change, registering the pulsatile nature of the arterial blood flow. It is widely used for the diagnosis of SDB.
The topic of the workshop is to show a new diagnostic concept in cardiovascular risk assessment based on nocturnal pulse wave analysis. First results out of a multicentre trial and the technical solution of the device are presented. Demonstrations of device and software are part of the workshop.
