Symposium
Chairs: Peymane Adab (Birmingham, United Kingdom), Barbara Yawn (Rochester, United States of America)
Aims: The aim of this session is to summarise and discuss the latest findings regarding the identification of patients with undiagnosed but symptomatic COPD. The session will include a review of studies evaluating the clinical- and cost-effectiveness of different COPD case-finding approaches; an overview of the algorithms that have been derived from primary care records and that aim to improve the efficiency of COPD case-finding; a discussion of the views of GPs, healthcare professionals, and patients on COPD case-finding; and an overview of the pros and cons of a structured screening programme and the gaps in the evidence.
