EASE trial: protocol design, initial screening and pre-procedure status from the international exhale airway stents for emphysema (EASE) trial of airway bypass

Aims: For patients with severe homogeneous emphysema good treatment options are lacking. In this session, the pathophysiology of emphysema and principles of airway bypass as a novel therapy for homogeneous emphysema exploiting collateral ventilation will be discussed. The aims are:
- to define the EASE trial protocol and key safety and effectiveness metrics;
- to describe the screening demographics of subjects enrolled in the trial;
- to summarise pre-procedure safety data.
