Educational aims
To describe study designs for clinical and epidemiological research,
To describe, using examples, the strengths and weaknesses of the different designs
To describe the process of protocol development
To provide the opportunity for students to develop a brief protocol, in small groups, during the course
To review, with practicums, clinical concepts such as reproducibility, validity, interpretation of clinical tests
To review the "tools" in the clinical researchers "toolbox", such as questionnaires, spirometry, chest radiographs etc
