Respiratory infections: prevention is better than cure

Aims: to discuss potential policies to prevent community-acquired pneumonia; to appraise the aetiology of bronchiectasis and its exacerbations and to analyse potential strategies to decrease their incidence; to identify approaches aiming at reducing pleural infection; and to review factors associated with non-tuberculous mycobacterial infection and re-infection.
