Aims: The aim of the session is to provide with the basic knowledge about CPAP treatment. This includes a short description of the physiological basis, the main principles of treatment and also the major acute and chronic impact of CPAP treatment. The main differences between Bi-level positive airway pressure and CPAP will be presented as well as the major indications, contrindications and results in specific indications. Finally auto-adjusted CPAP will be presented. The theoretical basis, the different algorithms, the main indications and contrindications and the clinical results will be highlighted. In the final part of the session a practical demonstration will take place.
