Aims: To describe controversial aspects of the current guidelines in cough, community-acquired pneumonia, surgical resection in lung cancer and pulmonary embolism; to discuss data underpinning non-adherence and alternative approaches to on-going recommendations; to propose evidence-based substitute management recommendations for clinicians; to identify areas of concern and need for further research. Prof. Rodrigo Andres Floto, speaker in this session has received the ERS Research Award in 2015.
