The challenges and measures in home ventilation

Practical Workshop
Chairs: S. Nava (Bologna, Italy)
Aims: The number of patients treated with home mechanical ventilation is rising around the world. In contrast to conditions in hospital, monitoring options for patients at home are limited. What technical and clinical circumstances contribute to a successful treatment regime? What are the pitfalls the medical staff should be aware of? Crucial parameters for effective ventilation at home will be presented for chronic respiraotry/ ventilatory insufficiency in cases of COPD, neuromuscular and thoracic wall diseases. Current technical solutions will be presented in a hands-on session.
