Aims: The aims of this seminar are to provide a comprehensive understanding of the physiological basis of exercise testing; identify the indications and the protocols used in clinical setting (i.e. incremental, constant work-rate); discuss the clinical applications of exercise testing in lung diseases; enable participants to understand the utility of exercise testing in the prescription and evaluation of pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions; and to detail the emerging importance of exercise testing in the prognostic setting.
