Central sleep apnoea: new challenges, new opportunities

Symposium
Chairs: J-L. Pepin (Grenoble, France), W. De Backer (Antwerp, Belgium)
Aims: At the end of the symposium the audience should be able to: describe the current pathophysiological theories; criticise proposals of new entities and definitions, e.g. complex or co-existing sleep apnoea; appreciate the differentiation of hypopnoeas to avoid underestimation of central syndromes; critically evaluate ventilation and nonventilation treatment options; and integrate new positive-pressure methods in the therapeutical algorithm.
