Aims: To explain and clarify the management of malignant pleural mesothelioma patients in 2009, using the guidelines from the 2008 European Respiratory Society (ERS) and European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) Task Force; give an update on the most recent data from translational research and clinical trials in malignant pleural mesothelioma; and promote exchanges between the malignant pleural mesothelioma experts from the ERS/ESTS Task force and the audience.
