Aims: At the conclusion of this session, the participant will be able to:

• know the important role of neuroendocrine cells in lung development and airway remodelling in various disease conditions;
• understand the problem of diffuse idiopathic pulmonary neuroendocrine hyperplasia;
• appreciate the contribution of molecular biology in the understanding of neuroendocrine proliferations and tumours.
