PG17 - Contemporary dimensions in cardiopulmonary exercise testing and interpretation

Postgraduate Course

Aims: This course will focus on practical aspects of clinical cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Indications, protocols, measurements and data interpretation will be discussed. The sensitivity and specificity of different response patterns will be reviewed. At the end of the course, the participant will be able to: understand the physiological significance of cardiopulmonary response profiles, in the context of exercise protocol; describe the typical response profiles observed in patients with different cardiorespiratory diseases; utilize exercise testing and their interpretation in the evaluation of rehabilitation programmes.
