Aims: The specific aims of this course are:
• to detail practical aspects of the management of difficult airways;
• to present standard and alternative techniques for invasive upper airway management;
• to report on the development of less-invasive methods by A. Brain and M. Frass;
• to highlight the advantages and limitations of these less-invasive techniques;
• to discuss when and how less-invasive methods can be applied in intensive care patients.
