PG22 - Writing and presenting scientific work at meetings: an interactive, hands-on course

Aims: An ever-increasing number of abstracts comes from countries where the native language is not English. Many of the authors have limited experience in performing, writing and presenting scientific work at meetings. This course is aimed at improving the scientific and presentation skills of these colleagues. The course involves a few lectures discussing the basic principles of scientific studies and presentations, but will mainly consist of short presentations by (a sample of) the delegates. Every presentation will be evaluated by means of structured feedback according to established didactic and safe principles (the so-called Pendleton rules). The specific aims of the course are:
• to review basic principles of scientific study design and scientific presentations;
• to practise and master the art of providing feedback in a safe and effective manner;
• to practise short scientific presentations to a live audience, and to receive feedback on presentation skills.
